They are repelling. We think that if we put our affirmations out there to the universe, to God, the divine mind, then the universe or God or divine mind is going to bring that back to us. Do you think God…
needs your help or your suggestions. If this were already 100% true in my life right now, would I still be doing this affirmation? The answer is no. You wouldn’t be doing the affirmation. Because if the answer is no, then the practice that you’re doing isn’t an act of faith. It’s a confession of life. You do not need to affirm.
Consciousness. Consciousness already. I’m going to put that word in there. Already is. You’re listening to the Transform Your Life from the Inside Out podcast. This episode is titled, Why Your Affirmations Keep You Stuck, Unhealthy, Lonely, or Broke. Now, I know that you’re probably not all three of those, but I know that you’re listening to the podcast for a reason. You want something.
You want something in your love life, your health, your fitness, your wellness, or your money and your prosperity. However, many of us are exhausted because we’ve spent many years trying to talk our desires to the universe. And many years ago, back in the 1990s, when I got into personal development, I was taught that you have to visualize and you have to affirm and you have to affirm. And then we think if we do all of our affirmations, then life will change for us.
We will think, oh, okay, my life is going to change because the universe finally hears me. Well, here’s the truth. Every time you open your mouth to claim a truth, what you’re really doing is you are actually confessing that you don’t believe it’s already true. What I mean by that is you might want to affirm the truth of, let’s say, for example, you say, I am healthy, I am healthy, I am healthy, I am healthy. Let me ask you.

So affirmations for most people are not attracting what they are wanting. They are repelling. And that’s what we’re going to dive into in this episode. Keep listening. Okay, so your affirmations, despite everything you’ve been told.
And we’ve all been brainwashed to believe that we have to affirm and affirm and affirm and imagine it and visualize it and see it. But what we really, where we’re really acting from is that we think that we have to inform. And by the way, I’m going to use, and you can use it interchangeably, divine mind, God, universal mind, universal intelligence, consciousness, the quantum field, whatever you want to call it.
But I’m going to use God just for consistency, and it’s actually just, it’s easier to say. So we think we have to inform God, or we have to command God to bring supply into our life. We think if we inform God that, you know what, here’s my affirmation, then what’s going to happen is God’s going to just pop it out and bring it to us.
And we kind of act and kind of treat God like what I call a vending machine. You know, the old vending machine where you put the money in, you press the button, and you get something out, chips, candy bar, whatever it is, a Coke, whatever it might be. Without recognizing it, we actually do the same thing with our affirmations. We think that if we put our affirmations out there to the universe, to God, the divine mind,
then the universe or God or divine mind is going to bring that back to us. Well, here’s something that I think is vital to understand. When I heard this many years ago, it just stopped me in my tracks. Do you think God needs your help or your suggestions?
Think about that. Do you think universal mind needs you looking over the shoulders, so to speak, of universal mind to make sure that universal mind is doing it right so that you can get the outcome that you want? So what we’re really doing is when we are affirming and affirming and affirming and affirming a particular result, what we are really doing is we’re like a backseat driver. We’re nagging divine mind.
I need, I want, or thank you, thank you, thank you for blank, whatever it might be, the money, the health, the relationships, whatever it is. And long ago, and by the way, I am not tossing stones because I did this for many years. Now, at a conscious physical level, the more we imagine something to be true, we are creating neural pathways in the brain. I am not negating that. But what I’m saying is we are all connected to divine mind.
So why not go beyond the body, which is what I’m attempting to do in this episode, go beyond the body to God, universal mind, divine mind. There, you don’t need to create neural pathways. God does not need neural pathways. God does not need to habituate it’s there, it’s brain, okay? When I say it’s there, it, I was like, okay, how do I, you know, refer to God here? Why do we do affirmations?
Well, I know for many years because I was taught this is what you do. You have to keep reaffirming and reaffirming and positively reaffirming and giving thanks if it’s already done. This is what many manifestation gurus tell you to do. But see, where most of us work from at an ego level, we think that if we don’t affirm, then it’s not going to happen.
We don’t want it then. We don’t want it enough. We don’t desire it enough. So the reason we do it is really only to satiate our ego mind. That is it. When we’re doing our affirmations, do you think universal mind needs you to say something a hundred times for universal mind to get it? No, not at all. But that is our individual mind. Literally.
and the insecurity of the individual mind trying to actually, air quote, make something happen. Here’s something that’s important to understand. You don’t think that universal mind, let me use this word instead, you don’t think that God knows what’s in your soul, what’s in your heart, what your deepest desires and deepest wishes are? When you hear it like that, and you hear it asked that way, and that’s what floored me.
When I started a couple of minutes ago, when I said I heard something at one point in the past and it floored me, I’m not sure that’s what I said, but it literally hit me right between the eyes. When someone said to me, you don’t think God knows your deepest desires? Do you think you have to keep reminding God of your deepest desires? And when you hear it like that, we say, well, of course not. That’s ridiculous. But we never ask ourselves the question in the way that I’ve asked you.
So what you want to manifest, let me actually change that wording. What you, and that’s just an old habit when I say want, because everyone wants.
something, but I want to switch that word to desire because desire has a different meaning than wanting. Wanting implies you do not have it. Desire can imply the same thing, but it just doesn’t have the same gravity to it. So what I want to say is this, whatever you desire, when you get your ego out of the way and your ego stops interfering,
it pretty much can happen for you automatically. And as I look at my own life, the more things that I’ve tried to make happen, whether many years ago when I was struggling with money, whether it be a trip somewhere or whatever it might be, when I tried to make something happen, it was always the most challenging and hardest to do. But when I simply just projected it, so to speak, and I held that consciousness,
And I got out of the way and I allowed it to happen. It happened automatically. So I feel my interpretation is that for many of us, from an ego perspective, we feel like our affirmations are our insurance policies. Meaning, oh, okay, just in case the universe wasn’t listening, I want to put this out there again. And I want the universe to know that I want that brand new red car. Or I want the universe to know…
that I want the boyfriend, the girlfriend, their home or new job or whatever it might be. And we put it out, we put it out, we put it out. But I’m going to share this with you. It doesn’t make the universe feel any better. It makes you feel better, but it doesn’t do anything to the universe because the universe is already really aware of your deepest desires. But what it does…
As I said, it’s comforting to us, comforting to our ego. And the reason that it’s comforting, the affirmations, is because now we feel like we are doing something. Think about that. Universal mind, divine mind, God, whatever you call it, created you, the hair on your head, everyone you know, this planet, this galaxy, all the stars, and the universes.
And then we sit here and say, but yeah, I want that red car, and I have to keep telling God over and over and over again that I want that red car. When we work from consciousness, and you’ve been hearing me talk about that a lot the last year or so, you don’t need to affirm consciousness. Consciousness simply is. Let me say it again very slowly. You do not need to affirm consciousness.
Already. I’m going to put that word in there. Already is. Prior to you listening to this episode, you already had, and you and consciousness had you, you were already part of consciousness prior to listening to this episode. Now, you might not have been able to experience the episode because it had not been created prior to you listening to it right now. Hopefully I said that correctly and it made sense.
at all times, at all places, for all people, under all circumstances. So make a note of that. We don’t need to affirm consciousness. We just need to recognize that consciousness is always present. Some metaphysicians call consciousness presence. In religion, they may call the presence, they may call it God.
If you look at the universe, though, look at the cosmic functions. The universe, so to speak, in this particular galaxy, God, divine mind, universal intelligence, doesn’t need to affirm and remind the sun to rise on our little planet. The universe doesn’t need to remind your heart to beat. The universe doesn’t need to remind your hair to grow or your fingernails to grow.
or your lungs to breathe air, or your lungs to inhale and exhale. Listen very carefully. Every single bit of this happens by divine intelligence. So if every bit of this, every bit of your life happens by divine intelligence, why do you need to beat divine intelligence over the head with your affirmations of the new house, the new house, the new house, the new house?
The new house, like a broken record or the car or the lover or whatever it might be for you. As I said, universal intelligence already takes care of all of this. It already takes care of everything. And I’m going to slow down there. Please listen. When you really get this at a deeper level, everything will start to change. Universal intelligence takes care of every single thing in your life.
starting today, is moving from I am trying to manifest to what some call the great nothingness. So here’s the pivot in the episode. We want to move from I am trying to manifest blank. We want to move from that to, again, what some call the great nothingness. Now, it took me a long time.
And I’ll give you some examples of this, by the way, so you can concretize it in your own mind. It took me a long time working with a shaman to fully understand the concept of the doing and not doing simultaneously. Because I used to think, well, I’m often told by the shaman that I work with not to do, do not do. And I used to think, well, how can I get X, Y, Z done if I’m not doing?
Let divine mind do the work. Let the universe do the work. But in the world that we live in and the way we’ve been conditioned, we believe that we have to do and we have to do and we have to do. And that if we don’t do something, then nothing is going to happen. The best example that I could give you would be of, and I don’t know if it was at that point, faith in the universe. Because one of my 3D beliefs is that things always work out for me.
And no matter what in life, no matter what’s happened, no matter, even if somebody calls it a tragedy, things always work out for me. So I hold this at a core belief level that things always work out. Now, let me come back to this premise of the doing and the not doing and the great nothingness. Many years ago, when I lived in New York City, it was about 25 years ago, I had to move apartments. And if you know anything about New York City, you know that there is a severe housing shortage in that town.
There has been for many, many years, and apartments are very expensive. And when I had to move from the Upper East Side, I said, I’m going to move to the Upper West Side. And I’m going to move to Central Park West, somewhere in that area, and I want to live on 72nd Street. Now, arbitrarily, the reason I wanted to live on 72nd Street was because there’s an entrance to what’s called the Sheep Meadow in Central Park.
is where people go and they hang out all day long. It’s like their backyard in New York City. And there will be thousands of people on a nice weekend hanging out in the sheep meadow, playing softball and frisbee and, you know, picnics and just hanging out with friends. So that’s why I picked 72nd Street. Stay with me because I’m going somewhere here in this story.
So what I did is I pulled out a piece of paper and I said, my new apartment is on 72nd Street between Central Park West and Broadway. I have, and I’ve told this story before, but you may hear it in a different way now. I have my own bedroom, my own bathroom. I have a roommate who likes dogs because I had a black lab at that point. And my rent will be the same as it is now. So I put this on a piece of paper and I put it on my altar.
And about a week later, I met a friend at 72nd and Broadway. And I said, no, I want to live on 73rd Street because 72nd is really noisy. And I really didn’t take that into consideration when I wrote down my objective. So I said, I want to live on 73rd Street. Now, mind you, I didn’t do anything. I didn’t go. I did one thing. I went to an apartment service.
When I walked in and walked out, they said, we just don’t have anything like you’re looking for at this price point. Why don’t you just get your own apartment? Anyway, I left, didn’t have an apartment. They didn’t have any matches for me. When I got home, the blinking light on my answering machine, this was back when we had answering machines, was blinking. And they said, five minutes after you walked out, somebody walked in and they have seemingly exactly what you want. And I called the person.
We went through a process, et cetera. Anyway, he interviewed quite a few people, but I was the one that ended up moving in. So my rent was 78 cents more. I had my own bedroom, my own bathroom. I said, why did you pick me after all the people you interviewed? And he goes, you seem like a nice guy, but I really like your dog, which I thought would be my biggest obstacle. And my address, I kid you not, my hand on the Torah, the Bible, the Kabbalah, the Koran, the I Ching, whatever you want.
My address was 170 West 73rd Street, New York. New York. How does that happen? I didn’t beat the pavement looking for an apartment. I didn’t knock on doors. Here’s exactly what we’re talking about in this episode. I didn’t keep reaffirming either. I simply didn’t do anything other than sit in the consciousness of, and I didn’t know that’s what I was doing at that time.
I had faith. And many of us, we have faith, but we use faith as hoping, meaning I hope this happens. But my faith was not coming from hoping. My faith was coming from knowing. And my knowing was everything is going to be just fine. So because my faith was in the knowing of everything is going to be just fine.
Look at the playing field energetically and consciousness that created for me. It created a very fine outcome for me. No affirmations, no physical effort, no exertion, no nothing other than sitting in the consciousness and the faith of knowing that it would happen for me. And I’ve had episodes like that in my life over and over and over again. So your new approach now.
After this episode, if you’d like to start actually using the power of divine mind, infinite intelligence, God, whatever you call it, if you do morning meditation or you’re doing your dream boards or you’re visualizing your goals or whatever it might be, that’s kind of okay. But what I’d rather you do is just sit in the quiet receptivity, meaning there’s the operative word. Because see, many years ago,
I was receptive. When I had the faith, I was receptive to whatever came my way because I knew things would be fine for me. So what you want to start doing is not affirming, but just sitting in the receptivity. And you may want to look up that word and get familiar with the word receptivity and understand what it means to be receptive. See, when you’re receptive of something,
That’s a whole different energy than projecting that you do not have it, which is what most of us do. We project that we do not have that thing. Now let me affirm, let me affirm, let me affirm, let me affirm. And notice in that moment how we do not have faith and how we are not receptive. We are the opposite of receptive. As you’re listening to this, what many people start doing is, okay, but…
But how do I do, and I’ll cover this, but how do I do this? And is it really going to work for me? But what if I don’t do something? Well, ponder this. In your past, you were asking, okay? You were asking for something, which is exactly what your affirmations are. You were asking for something. Now, you’re no longer going to ask, and I’ll give you a little process here in a moment. You’re going to start being…
And here is where the faith comes in. And the faith is this. Notice the receptive. When I start talking about faith and receptiveness, you start personalizing it towards your own ego. Meaning, can I do this? Do I think this will happen? Could this happen to me? This has never happened to me. I don’t know. Will this work for me? No. When I say no, what I mean is we’re not going to do that anymore.
What we’re going to have faith in is knowing, I’m going to say this very slowly, we’re going to have faith in knowing that universal intelligence takes care of what I said earlier, every single thing in your life. So if universal intelligence, and that is a truism, takes care of every single thing in your life, why do you have to do things yourself?
from your ego to take care of things. Ponder that. Sit with that. So here’s a bit of an assignment, okay? Your shift. Instead of projecting, you’re simply going to start asking and pick whatever words you want. God, divine mind, divine intelligence, infinite intelligence, whatever it might be. Here’s the question you ask. Write this down if you’re not driving. What is God?
expressing right now about blank? What is God expressing right now about blank? And you fill in the blank, meaning a lover, a new apartment, a new car, a new job, whatever it might be. And when you ask that question in that way, with what I’ve already covered in this episode,
you will start experiencing and seeing it in a different way. And the question is, what is God expressing right now about blank? Remember this, God is also, in scientific terms, consciousness. So what is consciousness expressing right now about the new car? Now, the mistake that a lot of us can make, and I did many years ago,
We try to automatically fill in the blank. We start doing something by looking for the answer. I got to find the answer. I got to find the answer. Oh my God, I got to find the answer. No, that’s, you’re already off track. The way to do this is simply ask the question and do what I’m doing right now. And that is getting quiet and just sitting quiet for one minute and letting see.
What comes to you? Let supply. And supply comes from a universal mind.
divine mind and God. Let’s supply, do the heavy lifting of bringing you the health, the love, the home, the trip, the relationships, whatever you want, because we don’t think about it this way. So we can look at that, and you’ve done the same thing in your own life, trips or money or homes or whatever.
we can look at that and say, okay, I want to blank. I want to go to Sydney, Australia, or whatever it might be for you. So then we actually personalize that to our own life, never recognizing what is the bigger facilitator of that entire picture? Well, the bigger facilitator is, are you ready? The universe. The universe.
Because the universe is what fucking created Australia. The universe is what created the airplane that’s going to take you to Australia. The universe is what created the food that you’re going to eat before you hop on the airplane and when you get to Australia or wherever you’re going. So why are we actually affirming from the small ego, affirmation, affirmation, affirmation from this ego, when all we simply need to be doing is communing.
and connecting with, but getting out of the way of divine mind. So here’s your takeaway, and then I’m going to give you a couple of steps. Stop using your ego mind as a megaphone and screaming at the universe as if the universe is supposed to hear you. The universe, God, divine mind, is not waiting for your instructions. It’s not waiting for you to get on that jet to Australia.
And then you instructing the captain how to fly that jet and the flight attendants to do what they need to do and the fuel and the fuselage to do what it needs to do and the grad coefficients and the lift and the wind and the air and everything to do what it does. No, the universe does every bit of that without your instruction, without your interference. So stop interfering. Now, I often hear people say,
I need to get out of my own way. Well, that’s exactly what we’re talking about. Because it’s not that you, when we tend to make that physical, I need to get out of my own way. But no, it’s not the physical way. It is the ego way. It is the mental way we need to get out of the way. Because see, you don’t need to tell God what life is. You need to let God, the universe, tell you.
what life is. Many of us are the proverbial tail trying to wag the dog, and it just doesn’t work that way. Okay, so here’s your transformational takeaway. We’re going to do a little bit of a noise audit, okay? And what we’re going to look at is we’re going to start identifying your hidden confessions of lack, which is exactly why you do affirmations. And we’re going to do three very simple steps. Are you ready? Okay?
And these three steps will show you the difference between truth, meaning consciousness, and noise, meaning your ego mind. Because the reality is, with our ego mind, we cannot hear truth. We cannot hear consciousness, God, again, whatever you want to call it. Okay, so step number one, list your three most frequent affirmations, visualizations, or mindset rituals.
Okay, so your step number one, list your three most frequent affirmations, visualizations, or mindset rituals, or mantras, or whatever it is. Now for each one, answer this question. If this were already 100% true in my life right now, would I still be doing this affirmation? The answer is no. You wouldn’t be doing the affirmation. Because if the answer is no,
then the practice that you’re doing isn’t an act of faith. It’s a confession of lack, meaning I do not have. And then what you project to the universe that you do not have, the universe actually projects that and brings that right back to you. So every affirmation that you do generally is an affirmation of lack, but we think it’s about manifestation. And actually what it really is, is…
unmanifestation. We’re creating more of the same shit by affirming we do not have it. Okay, next, step number two, look at your biggest problem, whether it be health, money, relationships, okay? And look at the mental labor that you are performing. Think about that. And start looking for the block and asking yourself,
why is this happening to me? And then what you’re trying to do is you’re trying to manifest a particular solution. Basically, because your business didn’t go well, or this didn’t happen, or that didn’t happen, what we start searching for is, well, where’s the block? And then why is this happening to me? And then we’re going to try to manifest a new outcome and a different solution. Well, as I’ve learned the hard way over the years, every bit of that is interference.
It’s the ego trying to do the job of God. It’s the ego trying to do the job of universal mind. And I’ll tell you right now, I’ve already said it, universal intelligence does not need your assistance. It does not need you to be a backseat driver. Universal intelligence does not need your consulting. Basically, it needs you to get the hell out of the way so that it can actually manifest in your life exactly what it is you desire. And then finally, the silence test.
Sit in total silence for five minutes without an agenda. Sit in total silence for five minutes without an agenda. And notice how quickly your ego wants to start working on something or doing something. Because your ego is going to start planning, worrying, calculating, and in some way thinking about, oh, okay, here are the things that I have to do.
Because, oh yeah, I want to think about a new apartment or a new car or a boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever. And the ego gets to work. And notice how challenging it is for you to even sit in the silence to even be able to hear the voice of universal mind, consciousness and divine mind. So we get into the noise pollution of doing and doing and doing and doing. Here’s your takeaway, okay? Every time that you have the urge to fix something, every time that you have the urge to fix something,
or do something because it’s broken or not working like you want, stop and label it as noise. Because that’s exactly what it is. It is noise from the ego. And the more you practice these three steps, the more clarity you will create, the more you will attract, and the more powerful you will become. I guarantee it.
