Get Unstuck In Life
—
Okay. So just a couple of minutes ago. I said, have you ever thought before what’s next in my life. I mean, things are so humdrum ho-hum. I hate what I’m doing. I’m stuck. I don’t know what I’m going to do next. Or even, you know what I want to do next? What I want to share is years back, I have been there or I was there. So I have been where some of you might be right now. I’ve been there. And I was burned out and I was tired back maybe 10 years ago, nine, eight. I don’t know. But I was tired back then. I was like, you know, I’ve done this for a lot of years, which is coaching. And I’ve taught persuasion and influence for a lot of year Subconscious Brainbased Persuasion and Influence. And candidly, I was really good at it. I was making a decent living, a good living. I enjoyed what I did. But it was just, it was, I was tired of it. And what I did is fortunately for me, it was only about six months.
A lot of people it’s six years or longer, but I was in a malaise and I was kind of just kept going through, what do I don’t know? What do I want to do? What am I going to do today? Business is okay. It kind of runs itself. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I’m bored. I’m bored. Et cetera. I also had money, which I do now. I had money back then. And many times when we have money that creates complacency, especially when we decide that we’re not going to do anything differently. Why? Because everything’s okay. As it is. I’d even pondered one time I thought about, you know, well, dogs are a passion of mine. Why don’t I buy some land in Colorado, which I wanted to move to Colorado, obviously.
Why would I buy land there anyway, if I didn’t, other than an investment property? But I wanted to live in Colorado, outside of Boulder. And as fate, what happened I got online and there’s this kennel, this dog. It was a nice home, several acres and it had a hundred capacity of a hundred dogs for a kennel. And I thought, oh my gosh, that could be my calling right there. You know, that could be my dream come true. That could be what I want to do next is you know, move there by that kennel and then start a dog rescue which I’m very, very passionate about. Anyway, I live in Sedona, Arizona now that never happened. But as it was pacing in my den, I remember the exact moment. As I was pacing in my den. I was just kind of wandering the room, kind of, you know, you know, creating ruts in the floor, walking back and forth. And something dawned on me. It’s very simple. It was this.It was just do something. Just do something. And a little later on, I was actually hanging out with my brother-in-law Don Xavier. And he said something, which I’ve literally lived by for many years now.
Is, he said something leads to something. Now a week earlier or whatever it was, I thought to myself, well, just do something. And then I thought, well, if I do something, even though I’m burned out, something’s going to lead to something. And so what I did is I own that. Now, what I did not do is take immediate action that day, because I didn’t know what action I wanted to take. But I want to point out I did have the consciousness. I had the mind, I had the thought around I’m going to do something. I just don’t know what it is yet. Notice also that’s different from saying, I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. And being stuck in that resignation. What’s different was me with me. As I said, I’m going to do something I just don’t know yet. And I held that, like it was something being born, something hatched inside of me.
Later that week, I had to drive to Fortworth to speak out on an event. And that’s about 45 minutes from my house in Dallas. And on the way to Fortworth it popped in my mind. I said, you know, I’ve had the same coach for a lot of years, an amazing woman. A world-class coach. I mean, she’s coached American Presidents and she’s literally my extended family. And I said, you know, she she’s too close to me. So she gets to complacent in her coaching with me because she’s too close to me. I need something new, something fresh. I kid you not. There’s no reason for me to lie or exaggerate. Anyway, that’s on the way to Fortworth. I drive back that day. And when I opened my Gmail that day. I was never and I mean, I can’t right now think of the last time that I clicked my promotional tab in Gmail I mean, literally years since I’ve click, my promotional tab. Anyway that day I got home. And for whatever reason, I, I clicked my promotional tab. And there was an email from a guy that I’ve known for a lot of years.
We’ve known each other since we both lived in New York city in 1999 and we stayed, we stayed in touch all these years. But he became like a gigantic, gigantic internet marketer. I mean a lot of people call him the godfather of internet marketing. He’s that big. He’s coached hundreds of people that, you know, if you follow people online and he actually, even he’s coached like the people that have become big, that I’ve coached people that have become big. That are people that, you know now. But anyway. He was doing, what’s called a Transformational Coaching weekend. And. It was, I think the whole thing said total when I was done was $12,000. And it was limited to eight people. And I said that, you know, right then and there, I’m going to that weekend.
And now mind you, I knew him. So I knew that whatever it was because he was not a Transformational Coach. Whatever it was, was going to be really good because he’s known for literally just exceptional, exceptional, extraordinary content. And I’m like, I know this is going to be good. So I registered that night. And it was maybe a month later, I don’t know, three weeks, five weeks, whatever. But anyway, I went to the Transformational weekend in Boca Raton, Florida. And in that coaching in that training for two and a half days. It dawned on me. The Transformational Content that was in that program it dawned on me. I’m like, wait, wait. There’s a lot of Shamanism in what I’m learning this weekend. And how do I know that? Because I’ve worked with a Shaman for 20 something years at that point. And what, I didn’t know. There’s a program there’s a big national program. It’s kind of actually not well known because it’s actually, I don’t know.
But anyway, Werner Erhard was the guy who founded that program and that company. Werner Erhard was a student of Shamanism. Not like I am, I’m an apprentice. He just learned about it from commercial ways or books or whatever. And when I was sitting there that weekend. I said, I can do this. Now notice something led to something that something was, is that I opened up to something new. Something new presented itself, the Transformational weekend, which was something I hopped on a plane and went to Boca Raton, which was something. I was in that weekend, which was something and the something that opened up. Was that I said, I can do this. I’ve been looking for something new to do and a new way, something that’s going to really light me up and turn me on. And this is my life. This is what I’ve lived. I mean, I know this content. I live it. I breathe it. And I can do this. Now, the reason that I didn’t do it is because I didn’t have a frame to it. Like I have now in my Transformational Coaching Program, which is a very structured 14 week program. But that weekend, when I was there at that transformational program, I’m like, okay, here’s how I can structure it. And my Transformational Coaching Program that I do twice a year has gone on in a matter of four years to generating tens. Were over $10 million.
Let me put it that way. I mean, it exploded. Literally exploded. And I remember, remember even, I don’t know, five years ago or whatever, four years ago, when I got a mortgage on another house, the mortgage company wanted me to write a paragraph, explaining why my business had exploded so dramatically in one year. And I remember the mortgage broker saying, you know, a lot of businesses will grow 10, 20, 30%. Sometimes, if they’re aggressive, your income grew 3000% last year. What happened? Well, what happened? This something happened. Something was, I went to that weekend. I got turned on. I had the background to do it. And I started doing transformational coaching programs. And then I actually merged that with all of my many years as a hypnotist, and then my years of scientific research on the brain and how the brain works and habits and everything else.
Anyway. Now we have the podcast and many other things today, and I’ve got a thriving company doing very well impacting countless people around the world. The world, not worlds world all because I did something and the first something that I did was said, I’m going to do something. I don’t know what yet, but I’m going to do something. Now the tall guy, the big motivator that pretty much everyone knows in the Personal Development Industry. He will say, you’ve got to take massive action. Well, I, I agree but disagree. Take massive action. If it’s conscious and thoughtful action. Otherwise, I believe in what Jim Rohn said, Jim Rohn said, who was known as America’s Business Philosopher for many years. Said, if you motivate an idiot, you’ve got nothing more than a motivated idiot. So take action and take thoughtful and conscious action.
I want to segue here for a second. I want to talk about money, even though it’s not related to this episode. And the reason why is I’ve got a free training coming up at the end of December. But, you know, what applies to you? Do you have money challenges over and over and over again?
Do you never get out of money challenges, and they’re really bad? Do you go up, do you go down, money in money out, paycheck to paycheck? Never enough. If any of that pertains to you and money then obviously you’re not actually operating from pure possibility and potential when it comes to money. And plain and simple, you’re negating it.
So with 2022, rolling around , about we change that? How about we change your money stories? How about we leave your old money stories behind in 2021 and help you create new money stories in 2022. How to do that.
Is Nicki who manages my team called me a while back and said, Hey, you know, I know that you use a lot of ancient practices and your money with your money and spirituality and stuff like that. What practices do you use for at the beginning of every new year? So she goes, why don’t we put together a training on that? So what I have is a new program I put together.
With some of the processes that I use, that I’ve learned from a shaman that are ancient processes to let go, and to literally burn your money stories, burn them to the ground and get rid of those old stories that keep you between, or keep you from the prosperity and abundance that you want. In life.
Okay. So as a kind of, kind of alluded to. We often sit and we think about things. But we often think about resignation. I’m just stuck. I’m stuck. I’m stuck. I’m stuck. And the new way to think is from possibility. Thinking from new things. What new things can I bring back into my life? But notice the difference here. There’s a small distinction. Most people do what I was doing. Thinking thinking, thinking, thinking, thinking my way to what could be that new thing. And I never discovered that new thing until I took some action because when I took action, which is doing something. That leads to clarity. I tell people, oftentimes in all my programs, many times, especially my business programs. People will say, well, I don’t know what I want to do. And I’ll say, just get started. Why? Because when you get started, you’ll discover more things by doing something that you perhaps never would have thought about before. And candidly even though my brother-in-law prompted me years ago to do stuff like this. I never really, for whatever reasons.
Thought about it. Because I don’t know, I was just doing my stuff that I’d done for decades and Neuro Linguistic programming and persuasion and influence and hypnosis and things like that. I never really allowed myself to segue over to doing what I’m doing, which was doing something different. So in the last episode,
I talked about animal totems and animal medicine. And I even mentioned the animal antelope. In the last episode, And there’s a phrase in antelope medicine. That says when you know what you need to do and you do it. There’s no reason to have any fear. So right now you might not know what you want to do.
But you know what you can do and you can do something different. By opening up and starting to look for something new. So ponder that. Get out of the resignation. Okay. So what things. Let’s talk about things and let’s talk about doing what things can you do. The first question I have for you is what interest you. What lights you up? What do you love to do? The only reason you’re not doing it most likely is because one, you think people are going to judge you or criticize you or say something. You know about it. Or you think people are going to in some way be unhappy about it or have a problem with it or plain and simple, you’re afraid to. Let me go back here to 1998. For a couple of years, I segued out of the personal development industry. And this was back in 1997, I believe. And I was recruited away from my industry in Neuro-Linguistics to being a Recruiter an Employment Recruiter. And I work for a couple of companies and I actually was recruited by a Recruiter. To run the Robert Half, which is a billion dollar company. The Robert Half International office and Manhattan, New York on fifth avenue. And I did like the industry back then. I enjoyed it as well. Didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it and it was, it was well paying. And anyway, I took the job in Manhattan. I had to meet with the president of the company of Robert Half to be interviewed by the President because they brought me on then groom me for a year then they move me into the Branch Manager position.
Oh, my gosh, I hated and I mean, hated the job. I just, it just was too too sterile corporate for me, hated it. And I quit within 30 days. Now I live in New York. I just moved there for the job. I didn’t have a job and New York is not cheap to live in. I’ve always been a fan of, and it’s me, spiritual materials, spiritual articles and spiritual publications, new age, alternative publications, et cetera. And there was this publication in New York. That was all kind of like spiritual classes and different things and Reiki and all this massage and yoga and all the stuff. Anyway, I pick the magazine up out of the magazine stand, took it back to my apartment. And ironically, I didn’t read it. I just, for some reason I put it low in bed and then I probably took it off my bed. And tossed it on the floor at the foot of my desk. I didn’t touch it for a week or so. And then one day after I’d, you know, I didn’t have a job anymore I’m like, okay, what am I going to do?
And that paper under my feet kept bothering me. And I’m like, you know, this has got to go so I reached down, I pick it up and I started thumbing through it. And I see an ad in there for a Personal Development Program. Being taught by a woman in South Africa. From South Africa, not South Africa, South Africa there we go.
And I read the article and read the ad and I’m like, well, this is interesting. I want to go to this. And it was only like $97 for a day program. So I went to the program. And I really enjoy it. But the husband and wife who owned the company that promoted the program because the program was at their company. They owned the hypnosis Institute in New York city. And so what I did is because I’d already had some hypnosis training and my NLP training. I registered for his Hypnosis Training. And when I went there a couple of days into his like, Jim, can you get up and explain to people in the audience, what NLP is Neuro-Linguistic Programming. So I did what I didn’t know is he wanted to explore and observe my command of explaining what N L P is.
And he and his wife because it’s New York and most of us, most of us take the subway. They drove me back to my apartment that night. And they said, Hey, you know what? We’re looking for someone like you. We have a job opening. Would you be interested in coming to work with us? I mean, I was all over that. It just turned me on, lit me up whistles and bells and everything. And I’m like, hell yeah, count me in and for two and a half years, or two years or whatever it was. I worked at the Hypnosis Institute. In New York city and bliss, doing what I love to do. Which led to what I do today, because even today I teach a lot about the Brain and Subconscious Reprogramming. And my transformational coaching program. So something. Led to something which led to something which led to something. But I took action. And then I moved back to Dallas and then, you know, the rest is history. I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing for a lot of years.
Okay,So, where do you start? First is if you’re in a rut your ho-hum your humdrum. You’re in a rut. You want something new? The first thing you have to do is get out of resignation. Like I’m stuck, I’m stuck. I’m stuck. Next thing you have to do is what interests you? What turns you on what lights you up? Volunteering, time, learning something new, going back to school. Even going back to school, you’re going to meet new people which could lead to you getting married. Something’s going to lead to something. But here’s the thing you’ve got to start doing something even. And I’ve been there, even if you don’t want to do something new, you must start doing some thing. And when you do that, you’re starting on what I call the journey of a thousand miles in the old Chinese proverb. Is the longest journey starts with the very first step. So that’s where you start. If you’re in a rut or you’re stuck, or you’re in a humdrum place in your life.
I remember when I was in Peru we did ceremony. On the Spring Equinox on the Island of the Sun. In the middle of Lake Titicaca?Back in Peru, back in the year of 2001. Or is 2000, I think it’s 2000 I don’t know. 2001. And there was a guy on the trip with us. And he and I were walking. We’re walking out in the Peruvian countryside. And by the way, I’m going to segue here. I’ll come back to this story. Is when we’re going for a walk, Don Xavier, or he calls me Jimmy he’s like Jimmy, put a cap on. And I, I’m not gonna. You know, like I’m not going to. You know, string this out. But before I left New York city, I still lived in New York at that time. Actually, I’m going back to New York. In this story. But before I left New York, I went to a barber and had him cut all my hair off. And I had a full head of hair, but I had literally just stubble like I was almost bald.
And so we’re going for a walk and Peru and Don Xavier says, Hey, Jimmy, put a cap on. I’m like, no, I’m good. I’m good. I’m good. And Michael and off Michael and I off, we went on a walk. Well being at, I think, 13,000 feet. Guess what I did? Yes. Yes painfully. Yes. Painfully painfully. Yes. I sunburned and blistered the top of my head to where it turned into blisters and scuffs. I should’ve listened to Don Xavier on take a hat anyway. Michael and I are walking in the countryside and he was an NLP trainer of mine. And he also worked for a couple of years of Don Xavier. And we come to a fork in the road. Literally and there’s Doug I mean, we’re in the middle of nowhere and I’m like, Michael, which way do we go? And he goes, well, it doesn’t matter which way we go. Either way, we’re going to start walking. Which I’m telling you listening that is something. And he goes, we’re going to start walking. And whichever direction we walk. That will be a different experience from the other one. But, you know what, who knows where it’s going to lead because you know what all we’ve got to do is start let’s just start, let’s go left. Let’s go. Let’s go right. But let’s gosomewhere. And that’s what will happen is when you start doing something. As you will go some where and what helps is when you know where, you know, when you know what interests you and you start taking a step in those directions. That’s when the universe starts conspiring to help you out open doors for you that you never imagined, could possibly open for you. I’m not saying that would happen. But it happened to me and if it happened to me, it can happen for you. So start somewhere. Remember also. Go to jimfortin.com/letgo and register for the burn, your money stories, free training at the end of December 2021.
And your transformational takeaway this week is that you are never stuck in life because something leads to something. And before we go here, that reminds me, I’ve told people is that, you know, the last several years. Dawned on me. We’re never stuck. I mean stuck is like being in a car a car can be stuck. We’re not stuck in life we simply have run out of creativity and we’re not taking action because we think we’re stuck, but we’re not stuck. We’ve simply chosen to do nothing differently. So you’re never stuck in life. Because something leads to something. Thank you for listening. And I’ll catch you over on another episode. Bye-bye. ‘
