You’re listening to the Transform your Life from the Inside Out podcast. This episode is part of a series it’s titled Conversations with A Sorcerer: Your Addictions Part three. I’m not sure how far I will get in this episode. I might need to do one more episode this might wrap it up. I do not know. Anyway. We’ll see, I’ll see as we go. So, in this episode, I want to talk more about what I’ve talked about before in the past two episodes. About your addictions. And of course, I don’t mean chemical addictions and you know, perhaps that yes, but I’m talking about things we get into that we don’t even know we are addicted to. And then most, you know, for most of us, our addictions control our lives. So, let’s dig into part three of your addictions. Keep listening.
Hi, I’m Jim Fortin, and you’re about to start Transforming your Life from the Inside Out with this podcast. I’m widely considered the leader in Subconscious Transformation, and I’ve coached super achievers all around the world for over 25 years. Here you’re going to find no rah-rah motivation and no hype because this podcast is a combination of Brain Science, Transformational Psychology, and Ancient Wisdom all rolled into one to take your life to levels you’ve never thought possible. If you’re wanting a lot more in life to feel better, to heal, to have peace of mind, to feel powerful and alive, and to bring more abundance and prosperity into your life, then this podcast is for you because you’re going to start learning how to master your mind and evolve your consciousness. And when you do that, anything you want then becomes possible for you. I’m glad you’re here.
Okay, so let’s start talking about your addictions again and add a little more to it, a little more content, a little more understanding. I want to back up in the last episode, I’d mentioned where Don Xavier has said, we need to learn to make better choices. One caveat there for anybody that, you know, as well-versed in brain science is that our addictions are habits and habits come from the brain. And we go into our habits automatically without even thinking about it that’s why their habits. However, research has shown that anytime we’re thinking about doing something. It doesn’t matter what it is, even if we have a compulsion and we’re compelled to do it because it might be a habit. Research has demonstrated that we have a couple of seconds before we take action to make a choice consciously about whether or not we want to take action. So, I tell you that because the truth is, we always have choice. Okay to continue here and I will designate where I’m quoting Don Xavier and things that he has said about addiction. And I’m laughing at this. I’ve gotten four episodes out of this. And this is 143-minute talk I had with him. And I’ve got thousands of hours of this. I mean, I could, I could do podcast tell like 24/7 or something I don’t know.
Anyway, he said. For me about addictions. It’s not even a question of which choice I will make. Now you may recall. In the last episode we were talking about choices. And he said, for me, it’s not even a question of which choice I will make. And we talked about the metaphor of having cards in your hand, two cards. A positive card and a negative card. And he said that I will discard the card that is harming me. Now, as I mentioned, the bazillion times, I’ve known Don Xavier for 28 years now. And I’ve always seen that to be true, is that when he’s guided to start something or release something and his behavior. Boom. He makes it happen. A phrase that he said, I await until you make it so. When he’s talking to anybody more like, yes, Don, I will stop that. I will start that or whatever. Many times, he will finish with. Okay. I’ll wait until you will make it so or okay then make it so.
Now when he discards a card, meaning he makes a choice about what he’s going to do or not. Many times, we make a choice and that choice might be, I’m not going to have any more sugar. I’m not going to have any more alcohol. And I’ve seen people as if I’m, as I mentioned on other episodes, stop decades of drinking. Now if you’re literally, I mean, a profound and I don’t know how to qualify that on the scale, but you’re drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels every day. You definitely don’t want to quit cold Turkey. But I know people, you know, drinking three and four glasses of wine per day, and I’ve seen him, seen him quit cold Turkey. With no challenges whatsoever and a lot of the quitting. Now again, you want to seek medical advice if you are. If you have a substantial addiction to alcohol. You probably won’t medical guidance. That’s entirely your call.
But in my own life, when I have stopped things that I knew that weren’t good for me, maybe it’s eating sugar or eating cookies for me many years ago, it was diet Coke. And it can be whatever it is for any of us. I mean, we’re all the same, but we’re all different. That’s called an unbreakable standard. And what that unbreakable standard means is. It means that no matter what, I will not break that choice. I learned that from a client of mine, a friend of mine, that’s a Navy seal. And he was telling me a story. If I remember this correctly, it’s been a lot of years. But he was telling me the story and I will recall the point of the story. Maybe not all the exact details.
But he said, I don’t know if it was him or someone else that got up in the morning. And they were training for the Navy seals. And he wasn’t feeling good. And he had the choice. It wasn’t like he was being made part of his training. He had the choice to go running that morning. And his standard was is that he would run every morning. And when he was in bed, he’s like, I’m not feeling all that good. And if I run, I may get sicker. But if I don’t run, then I’m letting myself down and I’m breaking my word to myself and he got up and he ran because he figured if he got sicker, he would actually heal from that and never come that. But if he broke his word to himself, that would do more damage to him. And so, he got up and he ran. We call that an unbreakable standard.
I have a client of mine one of the top mortgage brokers in the United States. And when I was coaching him, I know I’ve mentioned this story at least once before on the podcast, his name is Michael. He lives up in Massachusetts. And I did say for a reason, he’s one of the top brokers, the top, like 1% of mortgage brokers in the US. And when I was coaching him back in 2015, he said, Jim, I’m going to run every day seven days a week for one year. Now I tried to talk him out of it. I mean, balance manage this. And he said, Nope, I’m going to, I’m going to run every day, no matter what, at least a mile a day I believe is what he said every day for a year. And what he did is he went and got one of those yearlong. You know, Florida’s ceiling calendars with all these little boxes. And every day, starting day one, when he would run, he would put an X in that box. And when he told me this, I made note of it, but I didn’t think about it after that. And maybe I checked in every so often on that. Because it wasn’t something, he wanted coaching on, but it was pertaining to the concept of self-integrity, which we talk about and we do a week on actually more than that in the Transformational Coaching Program, the 13-week program.
And I remember, I recall around October, he goes, Jim. I run every single morning and he panned his camera over to see his calendar and every single day of the week, all the way until October, whatever week this was, had an X in it. And he said, because he travels for business. He said, no matter what I run. Period. When I’m booking my hotels, I will only stay in hotels that have a gym or a treadmill or somewhere that I can run. And he made it an unbreakable standard and Don Xavier does the same thing. It’s an unbreakable standard. For him at one point was he couldn’t have honey anymore. He was guided to no longer have honey. Boom. Just like that he stops. And I’ve seen him do that time and time and time and time again. And candidly, it’s pretty amazing to watch somebody that has that kind of personal power to start and stop anything in a moment. But Michael, he did it as well by making it his unbreakable standard. And he said, no matter what. Now, by the way he has conscious free will. He can make a choice. But he said, no matter what, I will run every single day.
So even though it’s a choice, It’s really not a choice. And that’s what Don Xavier was talking about. We’ll talk more about in this episode, having two cards, which card, like you’re playing a card game, which card are you going to discard? Are you going to discard, the card that hurts you in terms of your addictions are, or are you going to discard the card? That actually helps you. And you have to look because you have conscious free will and you can choose. In this conversation, he went on to say, and this physicality meaning on planet earth, we are incarnated in the bodies and this physicality, we all have addictions. And he said, he’s very, very humble. And he said, He said he’s addicted to things because his words are, I also am a human person. But here’s the thing. I choose my good addictions that propel my service. Now his highest value is spiritual service and the people that come to him for healing. And the planetary energy work, the planetary energy work that he’s doing and helping the planet heal and people on the planet heal. And that is his service.
And he said. I choose my good addictions that propel my service. And I released the bad ones that take away from my service. Now many years ago. When he started the apprenticing with Don Juan, when he was a boy. I don’t recall his exact age, but he told me that Don Juan said, okay, now it’s time to go in the world and be a man. At least that’s what he explained to me. And that’s the exact phrase. And he went out in the business world. And his Don Xavier. Very 3d, smart, extremely shockingly 3d smart. And he became a businessman and a lot of import, export and trading and different things. I don’t need to go into that. But he used. He said he used his addiction and his addiction was to build and grow and evolve. And he took that addiction into his business with him. And that addiction helped him grow and build and evolve his business. So, and I’ll, I’ll talk more about that. We all have addictions but what really matters is how we use that addiction. And does the addiction control us. Or do we choose to manage the addiction for better outcomes in our life? He also talked about in that conversation. He said he was talking about his astrological chart. He didn’t use the word chart, but he talked about his astrological, meaning the astrology of his, his time on the planet. And he is a tourist and he said, he’s a bull. And as a bull, he’s very strong headed. And he said, quote, I have my stuff every astrological sign has some things that are magnified over other things. Some are good. Some are not good. Some are helpful. Some are not helpful, but he was implying being a bull. He can basically make things happen. And that’s because he said. Is, he goes, I have stubbornness. And he goes, I can use stubbornness in a positive way or negative way. But I used my stubbornness to do what I need to do for the reasons that I’m on the planet. And all the years that I have known him. He doesn’t stop.
I mean, he literally works relentlessly and I mean, relentless. Relentlessly. Energetically. He just doesn’t stop. We go on family vacations many times he will take his bouncer with him. It’s called the pelican. He’s 70 years old. And I know I’m going to rephrase that. He’s 70 years of age, not old. I have seen him get on his bouncer and bounce at 145 beats per minute. Do you know how fast that is? 145 beats per minute for 90 minutes. And not a problem. He just doesn’t stop. And he said, I’m a bull. And I used my stubbornness to serve me. And he said something that applies to you here. I know me. And I know this about me. I know that I am stubborn. And so, because I know that I am stubborn. I used that to serve me as opposed to using it, to help me.
I have a friend she’s in her mid-eighties now and in business Don Xavier helped me more than anybody else. Second place would be her. And she built a company that did she’s already, she let it all go. Got out of it, even though she built it from scratch and the company was doing multiple billions a year in revenue. I love this woman. She’s like a mother to me. I love her dearly and deeply. And she hired me to coach with her, and to coach her, and many of her people. And she became my mentor. She was in her seventies when I met her, she’s in her eighties, mid-eighties at this point. And she was like 71 when I met her. Very, very, very what we might call pick headed or very stubborn woman. And the admiration that I had for her; she didn’t quit. I remember she told me that when she was. I think 19 or so back in the 1960s, she wanted to sell insurance. I mean, I’m sorry. One of the sell real estate, not insurance, real estate. And she met a broker who would take her on. And she said, he took me to lunch. He told me he would hire me. And he took me to lunch and he took me to a certain intersection in Dallas, which is close to an upscale neighborhood off Preston road and Royal lane. And she said he pulled over at the intersection. He says, get out. And don’t come back to the office until you have your first contract.
Most people would crumble right there and they would quit. She got out and she said it took me three days, but I got my first contract and I brought it back to the office. That kind of stubbornness. Persistence is what built the second largest private real estate company in Texas. So, he said, let me, let me quote him here. Going back to him. He goes, I’m on the planet as a human person. Even though he is a sorcerer, and nagaul, and a babalau and a shaman. But he said, I come to the planet as a human person. But I don’t make human things my destroyer. Meaning, he doesn’t let the things that we get into as humans and the opportunities we have. And I don’t mean the opportunities in a positive way. But he said, I’m going to take my destroyers meaning the things that would hurt him in terms of his addictions. And I’m going to use them to my benefit. And he said, quote, whichever he said, I am stubborn. I do not stop. And he said, My trait of stubbornness. I can use it for bad and hurt or good and benefit. It’s my choice.
He goes on to say, quote, I use a negative part of my humanity to serve me. Now, and he means a negative part of his humanity. We’re all yin and yang. But what he means there in those terms is the counterproductive parts of the personality. We may even call that the human ego. I used the negative parts of my humanity to serve me. And for all of us we all have negative parts of our humanity. And then he said things for example, and these are his words. Anger and fear. And he said, I use these things to serve me not the opposite.
And even as I’m doing this episode, I was thinking about a guy that I knew that was a family member of someone that I have a, another, I knew one person in the family. And they had a family member who had a stroke. And he was telling me about it, not the person who had the stroke. I didn’t know him. And the person telling me about it said. He got so angry at someone. He was so angry. He was screaming. And his, his anger was so intense that he had a stroke when he was in the anger. And I’m not just talking about anger. Look at the things that you get into many things that I alluded to earlier in an earlier episode. Many people get into anger and it becomes a habit and it becomes an addiction and they don’t know it. They get into fear and they’re constantly in fear, which I believe I talked about in the last episode. They get into shame a lot of people get into self-pity. And then when you talk about self-pity, I’ve done this before in coaching. I can say, I’m noticing a hint of self-pity here and I can see it because again, working with a shaman, but what I do for a living. Meaning, what I do for my service on the planet is a Transformational Coaching Program. And people will say no, no, I’m not in the self-pity. And I remember a woman that was in the very first group transformational coaching program that I had in 2018. And many people, once they go through the program, one time, 13 weeks, they want to keep going through it because each time they shuck off a layer, something that they didn’t even see at the time before.
And she was on round number five. And I’ve had, you know, many people go one round and stop. I’ve had people go 15 rounds literally, and stay with me for years. We’re all different. We all feel like we have different needs and wants. And in round number five for her, she said, oh my God. It just hit me. I don’t know. What about this particular round? And I know because I’m coaching her. I know what happened is because each round we shuck more things away. And she can see more of herself at a deeper level. But she said. She said, I never even recognized. I’m addicted to self-pity, but I never saw that in myself.
So, whatever things that you may be aware of or about. Notice the things that support you and help you. And the things that take from you and the things that take from you or the things that you want to eliminate from your life. So, you have two cards in your hand, which one are you going to choose and keep? And which one are you going to discard? Now we all know this. Some people keep the negative card. And that might be in the form of a gambling addiction. That’s robbing them of all their money, their savings, their kids’ future, whatever it might be. It could be a chemical addiction as well. It could be things that basically are just very hurtful. And these things can be very, very, very harmful and negative and not help us. And people can hang on to those things.
As he continued in the conversation, he said, we all have calamities. And my words. We all have bad shit that happens. And we’re like, oh my God. And I see it all the time. People will turn right back to alcohol again or when many people do as I’ll turn back to smoking, because they will say I’m all stressed out. And I have to smoke. And his take on calamities. I’m going to just share his word. Words. And I wrote this down in quotes. Because this is what he spoke verbatim. His take on calamities is so what.
Others, they take their calamities, meaning the shit that happens in their life. And they take it really, really hard. I know this because he told me this decades ago. Every single thing that happens in our life happened so that we made grow and evolve spiritually. Many people think that negative things happen and it just puts them into a tailspin. And they feel bad and they just, they literally crash. I’ve had my fair share of calamities in my life and things that are not pleasant, et cetera. And since I learned this in my early thirties. When I worked from is, well, I might not like this, actually it fricking sucks. I don’t care for this, but you know what. It happens so that I can learn and I can grow and that can evolve spiritually. Because this didn’t happen. You might’ve heard this before. It didn’t happen to me. It happened for me. And it happened so then I can grow. And evolve and become even stronger.
Now he said, and I’m going to be very poignant with this. Deliberate. We have to be in control of our addictions. And he said to be in control of our addictions. He said, I know myself well enough to know that I have to control them. Now, I stammered a little bit when I said the word control, because I often say is, we don’t control anything. We make choices. These are his words. I actually, I want to talk to him about our, our semantics on this, how they differ, and maybe we’re saying the same thing. But he said, I know myself well enough to know that I have to have control of my addictions. And I’m not going to allow hurtful things to affect me. We cannot do that.
He went on. If something is going on with the body and that could be something, you’re doing in terms of putting in your body. Because as we know, science research medicine, whatever says on, I’m going to spit ball here, but I believe I’ve read in many different places, incredible. Credible journals in different places. Where 80% of illness is lifestyle created and we put things in our body. That we become addicted to these things. People become addicted to sugar. People become addicted to salt. Why do you think people love McDonald’s French fries, French fries, the salt? Sugar, the cookies, the ice cream, all these kinds of things. And we know that we have that addiction, but you know what? We keep making the choice to go right back into the addiction.
Okay. I want to segue from the episode for just one moment. And I want to ask you, where were you most stuck in 2023? What things held you back the most? When I ask people, you know, why they’re not getting what they want in life. People often say, well, I was stuck with X, Y, Z, or, and this may resonate with you, I feel stuck.
If you’re feeling stuck, one question I want you to ask yourself is, what is it costing me? What is it costing me to not resolve this and to battle being stuck? And when you add that up, whether it’s money and especially in business, but in your health and your relationships, when you add that up, it’s extremely costly to be stuck in life.
Now, all this being said I created a new challenge. I created it last year. Many thousands of people have gone through it. And it’s called the Get Unstuck Challenge. Interesting, the name’s all about getting unstuck. Now, in this challenge, it’s a nine day challenge, and I walk you through, at a very profound, at a very spiritual, you know, level, and even at a cosmic level, I walk you through who and how you’re being as a being, meaning your presence on the planet.
And when you understand that, when you understand the nature of you at a very deep level. Now you might have heard me say. We Do Have before, and that’s more about 3D reality. Who do you have to be so you can do so you can have, but I’m talking, you know, what does it mean to be, and then what is that power associated with that?
When you understand that, you automatically get unstuck in life. This program never offered it before to you guys, we’re offering it now. I don’t think we’ve offered it to the podcast and an ad. Maybe we have, maybe we have, I don’t remember anyway. It doesn’t matter because we haven’t offered it a lot if we have, but we’re offering to get unstuck challenge again. It’s only $97. Thousands of people have been through it and they rave about the results they’re getting and I know that you will do the same thing. So again, ponder the question, what does it cost me? What am I giving up? What peace of mind? What happiness? What money? What relationships? Am I giving up in life because I am stuck in my own crap?
Now as you’re thinking about that, click the link, go to tcp.jimfortin.com/unstuck. Again, and we’ll drop the link in the show notes. tcp.jimfortin.com/unstuck. Download the program. You get started right away and your life will start changing dramatically. When you apply what you’re learning in that program, your life will start changing in very dramatic ways, very, very quickly. And as a matter of fact, in the next nine days, okay, back to the episode.
As I mentioned this series, there are different kinds of addictions. Some are mental, some are chemical, some are behavioral. But the fact is they’re all addictions and I have seen people literally conquer and manage all three types of addictions. He went on to say, I’m going to segue here a little bit. He went on to say, when I go to bed, I am abandoning myself to my rest. That’s exactly what he taught me years ago. When I go to bed, he says I abandoned myself to my rest. Sleep is magic. And it has to be respected. When we go to sleep. The body has to rest. Everything in the physicality. Basically, everything in our physical body, when he says physicality, is in the resting mode. So, because everything is in your, everything in your physicality’s in the resting mode. Let it rest. Because when we let it rest. We can go to other dimensions and do the work energetically that we need to do.
But for many people, when in sleeping mode, the physical stuff takes over. And you might be wondering, well, how does it take over I’m sleeping. Easy. Tossing. Turning. Waking up during the night and worrying. And his exact words were, is the physical stuff takes over. Waking you up and then taking you right into the commode. Because a lot of these addictions. My comment here a lot of these addictions have become hardwired in the brain because habits are hard wired in the brain. So, all these addictions we have running, even when we are asleep, they’re in the brain. But then the brain kicks us. Hey, wake up, wake up. And people wake up, pacing, the floor and all these kinds of things. And we have to protect our physicality.
We have to protect our body. We have to let ourselves rest because when we rest, we can heal. So, he goes on here. We have to come to the understanding. He said you have to come to the understanding of you. And I’ve said this probably four times now. You have two cards in your hand. Choices. One that helps you one that hurts you. Choose the better card. And then he goes on to use your seniority. Your seniority is your power, your life force, your consciousness, the soul power. Use your seniority. Use your energy. Use your power. You’re very powerful. Use your power. Many of us use our power to hurt ourselves. But use your power to choose the right card and then discard the other. And then use your power to maintain staying with the positive habit, the positive addiction, the thing that actually supports you. And he went on, but if you pick the old card. Calamity for you.
So, pick the right card and things will open up for you. Use your good addictions to not affect your physiology. What we do, and I’ve already said this as we use our addictions to affect our physiology. And then we don’t rest and we paced the floor and we are in fear. We are in worrying. We affect our brain. We are not sharp. And then we’re working. This will resonate with a lot of people. Think about mornings that you get up and you didn’t sleep and how tired you are and how you don’t feel good because you’re tired. Now you’re working from low frequency. So, choose. What kinds of addictions do you want to have? You have the power to stop anything and any given moment when you make the choice. And you stand by that choice and you go self-integrity and you honor that choice.
Ask yourself. Which addiction is going to serve me to create peak moments? Here’s a big one. Which addiction serves your soul mission. Which addiction serves, why you are here on the planet. That’s what you want to look at is what addictions serve my Dharma and why I’m on the planet and what addictions actually chip away and take away from that. Okay so when you apply this, his phrase was when you will apply the proper addictions that is medicine. And when we applied because everything is medicine. When we apply the proper medicine then magical things happen for us.
Your transformational takeaway and actually I did finish this episode. So, this is going to be three episodes in this series and I’ll move on to another one next week. Is know yourself from the higher aspect of you. I want to go somewhere else here for a moment. Am I’ve said at the bazillion times? If you’re here chasing a gold watch or the home or the car or whatever it might be. That’s not why you came to the planet. You came to the planet to grow, to serve and evolve. So, what addictions of thought. What addictions of behavior. What ways of being, can you become addicted to that will help you fulfill your reason for being on the planet.
I was talking to a friend recently. A couple of months ago. And he was in a funk. And I said, you’re not. He’s pretty spiritual. And I said, you’re not going to do anything stupid are you? And he’s pretty level-headed and pretty grounded, but he was in quite a funk. And his response to me was brilliant. I said, you’re not going to do anything stupid are you. Not all have to be concerned about you. Do I, do I have to come check on you every hour? And he said, no, I wouldn’t do anything like killing myself because if I did. That’s not why I came to the planet. I’m not completing my soul mission to come to the planet, to incarnate, to kill myself. And the reason I tell you that. All these things happen in our lives and shift flips upside down and stuff goes sideways and businesses collapsed, marriages collapse. All these things happen. We have money. We lose money. We have health. We lose our health. We gain our health again. I mean, look at me. Things happen.
What matters is the choices we’re making. So, know why you’re on the planet, which I had an episode recently where I said the most important question you will ever ask yourself is what am I to do while I’m here on the planet? Know yourself from the higher aspect of you. Know yourself from soul, know yourself from this is my Dharma, this is my mission. And then choose addictions that serve you. I haven’t said this in a long time, and I’m going to start asking. It’s AYNI. A Y N I. I’ve talked about it on other episodes. To get in life we have to give and I give a great deal like a comment every day, 99% of them positive on the podcast. And I give and I give, and I give, please give the energy back because when we take energy and we don’t return the energy the energy we took is taken away from us.
What I mean is if you find, and I assume you do, or you wouldn’t be listening. A couple of things, leave me a five-star review, anything less than a five-star review is not going to help me. And if you do leave a review and you can’t leave a five-star, then don’t leave one at all. I’m not discounting you. I’m just saying that five-star reviews helped me. That’s AYNI. That’s where it’s changing something. And then tell people that you know, would benefit from this podcast and these episodes, not only are you helping yourself by helping someone else, you’re helping me and we create a cycle and we are all helping each other.
So, leave a five-star review if you were on iTunes. And share these episodes with people that you know will also get value. I’m sure that they would appreciate you helping them love and have a better experience of life. Thanks for listening and I’ll catch you over on another episode and we’ll start a new series or a new couple of episodes. I don’t know what yet I’m going to start putting some things together for you tonight, but we’ll pick up next week. I’ll see you over on another episode. Bye-bye.
