The Jim Fortin Podcast

EPISODE 246: “Attention, Belief, and Manifestation”

November 30, 2022

This episode has been on my mind in various ways for about a week or so.

I was apprehensive about doing this episode only because I don’t want to appear to be repetitive, but for a lot of us, the only way we integrate and learn is through repetition.

You have probably heard me say before, “You are where your attention is.”

When you hear that, what do you think? Do you fully know it so that you can integrate it? Are you thinking, “OK, makes sense?” Or, are you thinking, “Geez, I wish he’d stop talking about that?”

The reality is that your life comes down to attention and awareness, and what you have or have not in life or have and have not created is a matter of your attention and where you hold it.

Candidly, when I did this episode, I was traveling. I did not have my regular podcast set up, and I was doing my best to get this out while in the middle of a day of travel, so my rhythm and sound may be off. But, what is sound is the message.

It’s so easy to dismiss simple things when we hear things like “You are where your attention is,” but that one phrase can transform our lives when we fully understand it and master it.

I go into many stories and scenarios in this episode in a final attempt to get people to understand and embrace this life-encompassing and life-changing principle.

When you master this your life will change forever.

Transformational Takeaway

You are where your attention is.

You're listening to the Transform Your Life from the Inside Out Podcast. This episode is titled Attention, Belief, and Manifestation. This episode was inspired by a student of mine this past week. You know, when we talk about attention, belief, and manifestation, these are all words that I know you're familiar with, and when we talk about it, this is what people do. And I know because I've done this for a lot of years, people are like, yes, Jim, I get it. I get it, I get it. Okay, roll my eyes. You know you're talking about this again, Jim. How come well I'm talking about attention, belief, and manifestation in this episode, because I don't care who you are, where you are in the world, you're listening to this podcast because you want to create something new and different and more in your life, but yet, Even though you think you might understand attention, belief, and manifestation, you don't know it because if you did, then you wouldn't be looking, you know, to want to create these things that you do not yet have in your life. Everything in your life comes down to attention, what you believe about it, and manifestation. Keep listening.

Hi, I'm Jim Fortin, and you're about to start transforming your life from the inside out with this podcast. I'm widely considered the leader in Subconscious Transformation. And I've coached super achievers all around the world for over 25 years. Here, you're going to find no rah-rah motivation, and no hype. Because this podcast is a combination of Brain Science, Transformational Psychology, and Ancient Wisdom, all rolled into one to take your life to levels, you've never thought possible. If you're wanting a lot more in life, to feel better, to heal, to have peace of mind, to feel powerful and alive, and to bring more abundance and prosperity into your life. And this podcast is for you. Because you're going to start learning how to master your mind and evolve your consciousness. And when you do that, anything you want, then becomes possible for you. I'm glad you're here.

You know, this episode is inspired by my own life and I've always, for, decades wanted to manifest things, wanted to create things, et cetera. And when I talk about things like attention, you know, I bring my spiritual work into that or into this from my brother-in-law, the Shaman. And what inspired this episode is, you know, a lifetime of coming to learn and coming to know what I'm sharing with you in this episode. And I have another episode, but I wanna share at least the opening story from a very personal point of view. When I had heart failure in a stroke a year ago, I wanted to heal afterwards. I mean, you're listening right now. That's normal, right? That's logical. You want to get better. You want to heal whatever your ailment is, whether it's heart failure, like me, a stroke, like me, cancer, whatever it is you want to heal. And if it's not that you want to heal, it's that you want to create something different in your life.

Even when people are healing, they're wanting to create something different in their life. So, we all want to create something. We want to create something different. That being said, and I know you agree with that because like I said at the beginning of this episode or in the introduction, you wouldn't be living unless you wouldn't be listening unless you wanted to create something more, better, different, or, you know, transform your life. You're wanting something more, but you haven't created it yet. Why? attention, belief, and then obviously that translates into manifestation. Let's look at that. So, as I said, this started for me after I had the heart failure and stroke. I wanted; I wanted something. I wanted to heal. I wanted to be healthy. I wanted to feel physically normal. I wanted energy. I wanted a better quality of life. And as I say that to you, I look back to where my attention was. Where my belief was, I've even done episodes before one episode on how beliefs are archaic, and your beliefs actually can hurt you. And then the manifestation of my health, which is really where I had, you know, which is what I was working towards, is the manifestation of good health.

Okay. So, I look back. When I was out of the hospital after the stroke and I asked myself, when you were wanting to heal where was your attention about healing? What were your subconscious beliefs if you can identify those about healing. And then what were you manifesting in terms of your healing? So, I wanna dig into that a little bit. Not so much me, but some other stories. I remember my acupuncturist, Dr. Nee, he was my Kung Fu teacher. He was my Tai Chi teacher. He was my acupuncturist. A very, very smart man. And even though he was very much into the Western medicines, sorry, Eastern medicines like, you know, Tai chi and natural healing and et cetera. He also had a PhD in mathematics, so very smart guy. And he told me about a friend of his that was an MD. That was diagnosed with cancer and the guy was told, his friend was told he had something like four months to live and his friend an MD instead of going through all the medical protocols to heal himself, he said, no, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my time with my wife.

They got in the car, he enjoyed a cross country four-month trip with his wife, and he was feeling good the entire trip. And when he came back from the trip, he went through all of his testing again. Now I'm just telling you what was conveyed to me, and I believe the story. Why? Because I've seen it in my own life, and I have physically seen it and verified in other people's. Okay. When he got back from this four-month trip, when he started the trip, he had stage four cancer and was terminal when he got back from the trip, no trace of cancer in his body. How come this happened? Well, we have to look at where the guy's attention was when he was traveling. What were his beliefs about healing or health and wellness in that four-month period? And then of course, what did he manifest? He manifested a life without cancer. So, I look at that story and I look at my story. I wanna share another story that I've, I've shared here before. A friend of mine, Chris, this was back in the nineties, I used to work. Literally five days a week, free weights in the gym, and my friend Chris. I remember he was bench pressing and he had a certain weight on the weight bench. And I said, Hey Chris, let's notch this up. Let's add some weight. And he goes, no, Jim, I can't do that. And I said, okay. And he did his reps. Then he got up and said, okay, I've gotta go to the bathroom really quickly, put more weight on or whatever we were doing.

He goes, come back and I'll, he said, I'll come back, and I'll do my final set. So, he comes back. But what he doesn't know is while he's in the bathroom, I put more weight than what he thought he could lift on the bar. So, what does he do? He comes back and he lifts every bit of that weight. No problem. Yet remind you to remind you. He told me, no, Jim, I can't do that. And he did it when? He believed that and he did it when he didn't know what he was doing. So therefore, he didn't believe that he couldn't do it and he did it anyway, just like I healed because I knew the doctors had created beliefs in me. The neurologist and the cardiologist. They could have created beliefs in me. I did say they did create, but I better, it's better said, they could have created beliefs. They could have created beliefs in me that it's really hard to heal. It's gonna take me forever to heal. I'm gonna be sick for the rest of my life. I'm gonna have heart failure for the rest of my life. I can't do X, Y, Z. Candidly, that's what they try to instill in me. Those are the beliefs they were trying to create in me. The thoughts about myself, if I held my attention there and I said, no, that's not going to be for me. So, Chris, what were his beliefs and then what did he do when he wasn't believing and didn't know that he couldn't do it? Then what was his manifestation? Same thing with the MD that I'm telling you about.

We have to be careful because that's the point of these stories. We have to be careful. What we believe, what we believe about, what we think we believe, and where our attention is. I know if you've listened for any amount of time, you've heard me say, you are where your attention is, and I was a bit reluctant to create this episode because, I mean, I'm putting myself in your place and I'm thinking, okay, how can I help? What do they. What can I talk about more that's going to help more people and it's gonna help them in a bigger way. And I know us because I'm the same. When we hear something over and over, we think, oh, I, here we go again. I don't want to hear that. I've already heard it, but the reality is just because we've heard it doesn't mean we know it. And if we don't know it, we can't live it. And if we can't live it, we can't manifest from there. That's why I know you've heard me say you are where your attention is, but the reality, whatever you have in your life right now, whatever you don't have in your life right now is where your attention is. Period. Repeat whatever you have or don't have. That's where your attention is. Period. And if you don't have what you want in life, you must move your attention to what it is you want to create in life. When I was physically ill, I did not want to be physically ill, so if I had listened to the doctors, I would've kept my attention on that.

I moved my attention to being and to already being healed in my mind, and I kept it there for months and months and months at a time. My attention and my emotions where I are perfectly well. I am perfectly fine. I feel amazing. My body functions to perfect capacity. And where I kept my attention, my body soon followed very quickly. So, I think you get the point by now, and I don't know what it is that you want. Do you want better health, better body, better relationships, more money, better external quality of life, more freedom? What is it? Whatever it is that you want. The reason you don't have it is because you do not. Whether or not you think you do, which we'll talk about in just a moment, you do not have your attention on it. Now, I know also there are a lot of people that would consider or call themself spiritualist, and many times people are wanting very spiritual podcasts or very, very spiritual episodes. Let me, let me put it that way. So, the question is you don't think managing your attention and becoming the master of your attention is in and of itself. Not a very spiritual practice. I mean, it is a very spiritual practice. Even if you look at meditation, meditation is all about awareness and attention. And then when things, you know, they tell you when you start to learn meditating to meditate, when things come into your mind simply, and instead of focusing on it, simply gently move it out of your mind, which plain and simple means you're moving your attention.

I also want to segue here for a moment and say that my rhythm is often this episode. My, my voice rhythm maybe sounds a little off. I'm traveling and I'm sitting in a place right now with people around me. I'm trying to do this as quickly as I, I can, getting the best sound quality. So, I apologize if you hear any background noise or my rhythm is off in this particular episode, but that's okay, the message is still here. The message is still sound, and of course, by next week I'll be back to my regular environment to create podcasts in the way that I do it. Now, I'd mentioned spiritualist a little bit earlier. I've learned working with a Shaman over the years. It's all about attention. That's where I learned this concept. It was from him. He, he said to me for decades, you are where your attention is. And it's so easy to externalize that because we can think about our jobs or our health or relationships or whatever, which are what I call external things. And we can say, okay, Jim, I can see how I can apply attention to my external things.

So, let's say, for example, I'm driving somebody pulls out in front of me, I get mad and I'm making this up as an example. Okay. But meaning you, somebody pulls out in front of you, you get mad. Well, that's where your attention is. And then so you can say, well, Jim, I can externalize this. Okay, I can understand. When I move my attention, I'm no longer going to be mad. Because I'm mad because that's where my attention is. Yes, that is the truth. All right, back to spiritualist. It took me a long time to really gather that. Many years ago, my brother-in-law said to me that spiritual evolution requires devotion, spiritual evolution requires devotion, and I thought about that for a long time, and I said, what am I devoted to? And then I recognize, well, where I spend my time, my interest, my physical body. If I'm sitting in front of a TV watching, you know, tv, that's where my attention is. Whatever I'm doing, if I'm on my computer. That's where my attention is based upon what I'm looking at on my computer. And then I started thinking about, okay, how much attention do I put on my own spiritual evolution and evolvement? Ponder that.

How much attention do you put on your own spiritual evolution and evolvement? What a lot of us tend to do is we tend to treat even our spiritual development and growth, like billions of people treat religion. Maybe not to the same degree, but what I mean by that is this. So, let's say that a person goes to church nerd devout, let's say Christian, let's use that as an example. And they said, I'm a great Christian, and they go to church, you know, Sunday morning from whatever time to whatever time. And in that moment, many times they're in the environment, they're in the energy, they're in the thought process of being a good Christian and what that means to them. But then later in the day, they go out and they get caught in traffic or somebody yells at them, or something happens in their external world and everything, they just, you know, all their investment of their attention that morning is gone because now their attention has moved to anger or frustration, whatever it is. And so back to my point, I started thinking, you know, I get this because my brother-in-law has said to me for many years, he goes, I always kept my attention on my the Nagual. And Nagual is spelled N A G U A L. Don't even bother looking it up because Wikipedia has the wrong definition of it, if that's where you go.

As I mentioned before, Wikipedia says NAGUAL is all like dark magic and everything could be. But there were also white Shamans like my brother-in-law. But he had said to me, I always kept my attention on my Nagual. Now my brother-in-law's not asking me to keep my attention on him as my mentor my Nagual, but what he was sharing with me years ago, and I'm sharing with you when you want to grow and you want to evolve spiritually, you must keep your attention there. You cannot let the 3D world, your 3D life, the bills and the money and the inflation and the Biden and the Trump and the election, and the Putin and this shooting, and that's you. You can't let these things consume your attention. The reason why if you do, is they keep you trapped in 3D ego, and when you're trapped in 3D ego, you will literally have I said the word literally, but yes, literally you have, you have no awareness of higher divineness, higher mind, higher wisdom, higher information, higher energy, higher connection. You just don't have it. Why? Because when your attention is on the 3D world, that's where your entire reality is.

You know, on this point, one of my good friends, he's literally very well known in social media as this blah, blah, spiritualist, et cetera, et cetera, and he dresses the part, and he looks spiritual in the things that he wears and stuff like that. And if you ask him, if you would say, you know, are, are you spiritual? He would tell you yes, yes, yes to the hilt. Blah, blah, blah. Yes, to the hilt, I'm a spiritualist. Yet he spends a great deal, and I know this because I know him personally. He spends a great deal of his time and fear-based realities, meaning what's going on in the physical world? What power player is doing this, what politician is doing that? What government is doing X, Y, Z. So, if you ask him, are you, are you deeply spiritual? The answer would be yes. But where's his attention never on the evolvement of being deeply spiritual, the attention is on the mechanisms and the activities of the 3D world. So, it's very easy to fool ourselves. And the whole point here again, is talking about your attention. Where do you keep your attention despite maybe you’re thinking? You keep it on whatever, you know, whatever it is you want to create. If you don't have it, it's because your attention is not there.

Let me share with you where many people keep their attention. And please, I'm requesting really ponder this. Notice that I said earlier in the episode that you are where your attention is. And I also said that many people want to create X, Y, Z in life, but their attention is not on X, Y, Z. It's on E, F, and G. What I have noticed is many people through just default of learning, default of, of conditioning, default of their own belief system. Many people keep their attention on what they do not want in life. You know, being a coach. I don't coach one to one anymore, but I can tell you it, it's very prevalent. Many times, I would ask someone, I would say, hey, what do you want? Many times, people would say, well, let me tell you what I don't want. I don't wanna be in a place where I can't pay my bills. I don't wanna be in a place where I'm lonely. I don't wanna be in a place where I'm overweight. And I will say, you know, you're telling me what you don't want, but I ask you about what you do want.

And the whole point here is, please, I'm requesting. Look at what you really, really desire in your heart and life. What do you really want in life? Now think about that and then think about this. What you really want. No matter how badly you think you want it, your attention is not on it. Now, the point I wanted you to think about, where is your attention? Because if you're not manifesting and you're not creating it, your attention is not on having it. Your attention is on not having it. I wanna point out something also, is that you can't force manifestation. And so, people listening to this, some people might say, okay, I want that brand new car and I'm gonna keep my attention on that brand new car. And I'm gonna force it and force it and force it. I mean, I'm gonna have that brand new car. And that approach is if they're going to force it and they're going to make something happen, you can't make anything happen.

You have to, and you must allow it to happen. And the secret here, it's a bit of a fine point, but the secret is to have your gentle attention on it, but here's the way to have your attention on it, is you have your attention on it by knowing that it's already in the process of coming to you or already been done, just not arrived in your life as of yet. That's a vital key because if you're trying to, again, take this and okay, Jim said I gotta do this, I gotta take my attention and keep it on that brand new car that I want. In that moment, you're actually pushing the car away because which where you're working from probably is not having it, which means you're pushing it away more than keeping your gentle attention on it, which is the knowing that you know what? It's done. It's a done deal. It might not be in my driveway yet. Yet it's on the way Okay. A little homework for you in this episode is think about what you really want in life, something you truly desire. Next, what I want you to observe, be very honest with yourself and ask yourself, I said that I wanted XYZ, and I've wanted it for quite some time.

How come I do not yet? Now listening to this episode, the reason you don't have it is because your attention has been on not having it or having it. I want it, I want it, I want it like the example I gave earlier and then actually trying to force it to make it happen, which then reinforces you don't have it, which then creates more of not having it by the law of attraction principle. Think about what it is that you really want. Now, think about, again, as I was just saying, where's your attention really been relative to what you really want? Then what you may want to do. Take the next week, not a long time, seven days at the end of every day. Sit down for just five minutes and think about, okay, a week ago I said I wanted X, Y, Z. Let's look at last Monday. Where was my attention all on Monday. Did I ever pay any attention? To creating X, Y, Z. Where was my attention about having X, Y, Z, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, all through the week, and preview where your attention was for the week. When you do that, it's probably gonna become pretty obvious to you why you've not gotten what you want in life based upon not having your attention and the place that it needs to be.

As I've said before as well, please notice that your attention. Most likely, and I'm gonna say actually does reflect your life. You have the life that you have right in front of you right now. That car in your driveway, the money in your bank account, your physical health, your home, whatever it is, you have these things in front of you because in some way you've done something to keep your attention in a place that creates those things. And if you want different things and new things, you must move your attention gently onto what it is that you want. And then the attention of it's already done. That's, that's the glue right there. It's already done. Because when you work from there, literally you're working in present moment. It's already done. You're working in the knowing it's already created. And in that moment, for lack of better words, you're telegraphing at the universe bringing it into your awareness. So, your takeaway from this episode, I do wanna apologize. I know it's choppy. As I said, I'm around a lot of people. I had to get this banged out. I knew what I wanted to say, but I apologize if anything is off in this episode. I'll be back to normal air quote next week, but your takeaway, please do not roll your eyes and go, Jim, I've heard you say that before, blah, blah, blah. No, your takeaway is you are where your attention is. Thanks for listening, and I'll catch you over on another episode. Bye-bye.
